I cannot emphasize enough how much I agree with you. I have tried desperately to recruit people with just basic, "clean" written English skills, but usually in vain. I am increasingly amazed at the number of people out there who can speak well but are near-illiterate when it comes to writing. Even the ones who do write well go straight for the spell check after they're done typing, because "I'm so used to not typing complete words y'know... I love autocorrect." It's just tragic.
