and we lie next to each other in darkness
wearing dead skin on our body
stillness pouring out in cold sweat
forming damp maps on the sheet

and we lie silently with our eyes wide open
thinking of places we had imagined to be
of smells that filled our fingernails
of tastes that lingered on our eyelashes

and we slowly breathe in the wetness
of words unspoken
of wrinkles untouched

next to each other
quietly alone
