Pretty Flower

Pretty flower, I watch you
Rose, in petticoats of passionate pink
Holding your head up, indifferent
To my admiring gaze
Perhaps if you were still
Adorning your branch,
Not rotting away
In this swan-shaped white vase
You might have reciprocated
With shy acknowledgement

Yes, it went straight to the heart. Delicate and elegant like an Ikebana arrangement.

Birds in cages do that to me too. Only worse.

Lovely poem. One reservation, though. The last two lines don't have the simple lyricism of the rest. "reciprocated" and "acknowledgement" made my eye stumble a bit.

For some reason the poem made me think of this picture :- http://deepakg.blogspot.com/2004/11/timeless.html

I can just see these flowers taking a bow of acknowledgement at what you just said to them! :-)
